Since December 2012 the Friends of Upton Pyne are proud to have raised in excess of £8000 to support the maintenance of the church buildings and grounds. In addition to this pledges to the Church Window Appeal have reached £1200 and the ongoing work by the gardening team has kept the churchyard in good order and saved well in excess of £1000.
The first Upton Pyne Jane Austen Day, held in the blazing July sunshine, was a great success, thanks to the many people who contributed in so many ways. The event was sold our in advance and raised £567, with a further £100 generously donated by the bingo club.
Another great summer event was the picnic lunch hosted by jane and fabian King at Orchard House. With croquet and cricket on the lawn, classical music, glasses of elderflower fizz and a superb bring-and-share lunch, the sunny Sunday afternoon passed very pleasantly and raised £155.
The bring and buy stall at the village coffee morning made a total of £280 in July and August. Special thanks to Davis Taveerner for his delicious cakes, scones and quiches which unsurprisingly, always sell out very quickly.
