It is such a delight to be able to report excellent news, good news and more good news

We have been awarded £86,000 from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repaid Fund thanks to David Marshall and the PCC whose hard work produced the successful application. The project is being put out to tender and it is anticipated the work on the roof will begin early in the autumn.

But our work is not done; the work to repair and maintain the Church of Our Lady and its grounds continues.

The gardening team has worked strenuously to clear overgrown areas in the church yard as well as cutting grass and trimming hedges. The result of these efforts is that the churchyard looks great and the church has saved money which can be used as necessary for repairs and maintenance.  The ongoing work by the gardening team has kept the churchyard in good order and saves in excess of £1000 each year. Thanks to the team for all their hard work. Care of the borders has kindly been undertaken by Bernaville Nurseries.

Thanks too to the  pledges to the Church Window Appeal. The Adopt a Window initiative has reached its initial target, with much of the urgently needed work to the windows and the surrounding  having been completed. General repairs to the exterior continue and the next major task is the completion of the repointing of the stonework. After that, we can look to improving disable access and then turn our attention to the interior and start tackling repairs and decorating jobs there.

Fund raising events supporting the community, have raised a significant amounts for our cause. In particular, the monthly bring and buy stall at the coffee morning, with its wonderful baked goods as well as bric a brac items, and the hot supper club evenings, providing a delicious meal and fascinating talks, have raised a good proportion of the money. The Jane Austen days proved popular and this summer we hope to have a pop-up Regency Tearoom. Other event are planned for the coming months.

Very important sources of fund-raising are donations and planned giving, which ensure a steady source of income for our work. Both of these ways of supporting the work allow us to increase the amount given by adding gift-aid contributions for tax payers. many of you already give on a regular basis and your contributions make a huge difference to what we have been able to do so far. Forms are available to use if you wish to contribute to saving our heritage by planned giving or single donations.

Enormous thanks to all who are helping to save the church by donations and by giving so generously of your time and efforts to events and maintenance.
